About Us
Mission statement:
Boise's Novel Orchard operates as a non-profit organization that supports, without prejudice, a local community of writers through regular workshops, critique groups, presence on the world-wide web, and micro-publishing.
The solitary activity of writing isolates writers from others. By facilitating a community in which writers can interact with, gain support from, and offer advice to each other, BNO encourages writers to create literary works of value. These works, along with works submitted by the community at large, are highlighted through the publication and local distribution of chap-books. BNO also issues challenges and sponsors contests to provide motivation and immediate deadlines for members and the writing community at large.
Vision statement:
In all of our programs, Boise's Novel Orchard encourages writers to pursue excellence regardless of experience and goals through the services it provides. In every endeavor, we strive to achieve a policy of acceptance, never selection, and always pursuing excellence.
What We Are Not:
Though Boise's Novel Orchard strives to support writers in every way we can, it is impossible for us to provide some services. As such, Boise's Novel Orchard does not offer private critique services, editor, agent or publisher referrals. Instead we strive to educate authors to seek out and decide for themselves the best paths toward publication.
